Submitting Materials to Little M
Little M encourages submission of material for publication on the www.MWM.org website. Preference will be given to material that pertains to the Metropolitan Washington Mensa group or to a large section of its membership. Limitations may be placed on material due to length, suitability, or lack of Webmaster's time to code the material.
Submission Guidelines
- Material will be accepted in any format or on any media as long is it does not require the Webmaster to re-type the text. Exceptions will be provided for material submitted in writing on bills of a $20 or larger denomination.
- The Webmaster expects most submissions to be in an email body or in a file attached to an email. Any electronic communication containing a virus or similar annoyance will be repackaged and distributed back to you and your family.
- MS Word and similar documents will be accepted but if they contain sophisticated formatting, good luck.
- Any material submitted orally has a 3.7% probability of being placed on the website.
- Corrections to currently published information on the site will be accepted orally and these corrections have historically averaged out to be 3.7% of all material submitted orally.
- PDF documents will be accepted, but will generally only be used with a download link unless you supply the source document.
- Faxing is not an option at this time but you already figured that out.
- Photographs, art, pictures and other graphic files are welcome. Any standard graphic format will be acceptable but the files will be cropped, compressed, squeezed and reduced as appropriate to be suitable to the web. If after doing that the pictures look ugly, they will not be used.
- Do not send copyrighted material (written or pictures) unless it is your copyright or permission for publishing is included.
- Do not send anything that will encourage lawyers from large corporations to write letters to the Webmaster.
- Letters to the editor will be accepted only after an editor has been appointed.
- Correspondence such as letters to the Webmaster may be published in whole or part.
- The Webmaster assumes that permission has been granted by the author for publication of any material that is sent to the Webmaster.
- Requests to add hyperlinks to non-Mensa sites will be considered, but are not requested unless the sites contain material related to Mensa or Mensa activities (such as photographs of Mensans, Mensa outings, Mensan accomplishments, MWM calendar events, or something of general Mensan interest.)
- Suggestions for improvements, additional functions or features to www.mwm.org are encouraged. However, be forewarned that the Webmaster is an 'idea' person and already has enough ideas to last his tenure as Webmaster. Therefore other 'idea' people should limited their suggestions to zero. Everyone else should freely submit their suggestions.
- Complaints given directly to the Webmaster will be cheerfully accepted no matter how bad of a day you are having.
- Complaints communicated via MWM officers or via other round-about methods will be appropriately filed.
- Solicitations of the type "Woman seeking Man..." will be accepted by the Webmaster but will not be published.
- Provide your contact information with all submissions. Provide that email address that you check regularly and that phone number where you can most easily be reached.
